Ceramic testing analysis
We offer testing of materials and products for raw material assessment, product development, quality control as well as product and material evaluation conformity, fit for purpose, safety, legislative and environmental impact purposes.

The range of materials tested includes:

  • Bricks
  • Electroceramics
  • Industrial ceramics and all associated raw materials

Testing can be divided into chemical analyses for bulk composition to trace analyses, mineralogical analyses for speciation and phase determination.

We also offer determination of physical properties such as grading, density, porosity, strength, rheology, mechanical, electrical and thermal properties and microstructure to study product failure or defects, failure mechanisms, inclusions, grain size and bonding structures, surface analysis, degradation and contaminants.

Typical work involves the analysis and testing of tiles, tableware, construction products, sanitaryware, refractories, raw materials and advanced ceramics.

Glass testing facilities
Glass is a popular material in a number of industries, such as the construction sector, due to its versatility, strength, and availability. New technological developments have further enhanced the features of glass, making it hardwearing, heat resistant or even bullet proof. Manufacturers therefore need to ensure compliance with all applicable standards.

GCE, RUET can support manufacturers and distributors of glass products and components with extensive certification and testing services. At our excellently equipped laboratory, we offer testing and certification services for all the types of glass that are used by various industries, such as insulated glass units for construction. Our glass testing services can also include witnessing tests on the manufacturer’s equipment and inspection of manufacturing processes.

Cement testing facilities
Test facilities include tests on general properties of concrete, tests for specific gravity, unit weight, moisture content, absorption of coarse and fine aggregate, FM of coarse and fine aggregate, different tests on brick mortar and cement, direct tensile and compressive strength of cement mortar, tests on stress strain and mechanical properties of materials: tension, direct shear and impact tests of mild steel specimens, slender column tests, static bending tests, hardness tests of metals, torsional tests of different types of materials, helical spring tests.


GCE, RUET has evolved into a Center of Excellence for providing high quality consultation services for Glass & Ceramic Engineering related activities. The institute regularly provides the consultation and ancillary services in this regard to the government and private agencies.
